A Pelvic Floor Physio’s Guide:
Meet Emily

Hiya!

I'm Emily Kyle, and I'm absolutely thrilled to connect with you! After completing my Kinesiology Degree at the University of British Columbia, I followed my heart back to Australia, my birthplace, to turn my passion for exercise and movement into a fulfilling career.

At the University of Melbourne, I attained my Doctor of Physiotherapy degree with distinction, where I discovered my true calling: pelvic health. The pelvic floor quickly became my focus, as I learned just how vital it is for overall well-being. After all, everything good in life happens in the pelvis! During my time in Australia, I had the invaluable opportunity to work in maternity wards and run prenatal outpatient clinics, gaining first hand insight into the journey many individuals undertake during pregnancy.

I returned to Canada to be closer to family, where I joined a private practice and expanded my expertise to include working with persistent pain clients. Through these experiences, I developed a profound appreciation for the intricate connections within the body, particularly how important the nervous system is in overall function for health and happiness.

Having navigated the challenges of pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period myself, I understand firsthand the overwhelming nature of the journey. The lack of clear and accessible resources and conflicting advice is unfair. The changes to the body while pregnant can be daunting and unfamiliar. I am driven to create accessible, evidence-informed pelvic health information to bridge the gap between private and public health services.

I strongly believe that understanding the role of the nervous system in childbirth is a crucial missing piece that may help reverse the birth outcomes we are seeing in today’s world, including pelvic floor dysfunction. I think that everyone deserves to know how their body works, not just what is happening, particularly during birth and postpartum. Unfortunately, this is far too often overlooked by our primary healthcare practitioners.

It's truly a privilege for me to share my knowledge with you, both professionally and personally. Together, let's empower you to thrive throughout your journey, understand your nervous system to realize your best birth outcomes. You never know - you may just prevent a pelvic floor problem before it’s an issue!
